Well you're right friends, I am indeed a piss pot but I am not wrong about this. So Starships has been out for a few days now, and I'm having an okay time with it. The game is amazing for what feels like a mobile release. The issue is they're trying to mask it as a much more intricate game than it actually is. Verdict: the games great for a mobile release, but attempting to gut fans is a low blow You can easily find games just as complex and fleshed out as Starships on the app store for a dollar or less. While fun, there isn't a wealth of content.

The jib of the game is the tactical combat on the tiled screen surrounding planets. Think the same as Civ 5's tile system except each combat takes place in it's own instance and weapons can fire longer distances than a single tile. Everything is incredibly simple though still enjoyable. Verdict: Ace Patrol in space with a bit of resource management thrown in for good measure.
The game "ties in" with Civilization Beyond Earth in that playing through one unlocks things for the other.

While I'm too lazy to research exactly how, I know for example that playing Starship's gives you additional start options in Beyond Earth such as "begin the game with a free virtue" or "produce explorers and colonist 50% faster". Verdict: Gimmick marketing strategy offers incredible boost to Beyond Earth if you purchase / play Starships There's another post on here that shows all the alternate start options but all you need to know is they're vastly more powerful than the normal ones.
Long story short the game in no way justifies a $17 price tag. Build and command a fleet of starships and travel between planets as you explore, build, negotiate, and fight to preserve your vision for humanity.
